ICYMI, a dangerous flaw has been found in our Wi-Fi.

"Every single product with Wi-Fi has this problem," says Guardian Tech reporter Alex Hern.

"An attacker who abuses this flaw could read the information sent around the network without the password."

And because of the Internet of Things (IoT), that means more and more of our household appliances that support Wi-Fi are vulnerable as well.

"A horror story I've been telling... Suppose you have a cheap home security system with wireless cameras on all over the walls. This flaw means until those cameras are updated by the manufacturers, a would-be burglar could sit outside your house and use their own laptop to monitor whether your are home, wait until you have left, and watch which room you're in."

It's a scary scenario. To shore up our security, Hern recommends two things:

1) Stick with reputable personal tech and IoT manufacturers.
2) And next time your device or appliance pings and asks if you want a security update, hit YES.
